It is snowing outside, and chilly in the house, but I am wrapped in the warmth and beauty of my Ming Wang shawl. Every time I wear it, and this winter it has been often, I feel connected to the sad but brave story of Eleni. Two weeks ago while receiving my chemo treatment at the Monter Cancer Center at LIJ, a smiling faced woman came into my room with a white tote bag and said, here's a gift for you. How nice, but why me, I thought? Then I read the enclosed card and was in tears. When I am wrapped in my shawl's warmth and comfort I am always aware of the connection to a wonderful woman, and her sister who keeps her spirit alive with this incredible, generous and loving organization. Plaques and monument are cold and silent, but the women who have been recipients of Eleni's Pop of Color scarves will carry her memory for their lifetimes and acknowledge the thoughtful and lasting expression of a sister's dedication and love.

I wanted to mention how grateful I am that you are working with LIJ Monter Cancer Center. I also wanted to say thank you for the lovely scarf today. I was freezing during my chemo and it came in handy. It is a beautiful color, made of nice fabric and did the trick. You are amazing and I appreciate your caring thoughts during my difficult time.
